Fermentation dynamics and quality of maize silage with Pigeon pea

چکیده

Tropical legumes are used to prepare mixed silages enrich the crude protein (CP) content. In This context, objective of this study was evaluate dynamics fermentation and quality maize silage with different levels Pigeon pea. The experimental design entirely randomized, four repetitions. treatments comprised six added pea (0, 20, 40, 60, 80, 100%), calculated based on natural matter. hybrid varieties were B 2800 PWU Cajanus cajan cv. BRS Mandarin, respectively. For silage, harvested when they reached 335.7 g kg-1 dry matter (DM) 281.3 DM, results revealed that up 40% in promote nutritive increment without compromising their fermentative profile silage. Exclusive (100%) undergoes losses compromise quality. Therefore, pea, appropriate addition, a viable alternative increase value silages, mainly CP content, contributing reducing cost acquisition salts.

Nutritional composition and antinutritional properties of maize ogi cofermented with pigeon pea

Maize was cofermented with pigeon pea for ogi production and evaluated for nutritional (proximate composition, minerals, vitamins, and amino acid profile analyses) and antinutritional (phytate, tannin, and trypsin inhibitor activity analyses) qualities. White maize and pigeon pea were mixed at ratios of 90:10, 80:20, 70:30, 60:40, and 50:50, respectively, with 100:0 serving as the control. Mixt...

Fermentation Quality and Additives: A Case of Rice Straw Silage

Rice cultivation generates large amount of crop residues of which only 20% are utilized for industrial and domestic purposes. In most developing countries especially southeast Asia, rice straw is used as part of feeding ingredients for the ruminants. However, due to its low protein content and high level of lignin and silica, there is limitation to its digestibility and nutritional value. To ut...

Silage Fermentation End Products and Microbial Populations: Their Relationships to Silage Quality and Animal Productivity

Understanding the roles that various microbes play in silage fermentation and the factors that affect their growth can help us understand why silages ferment in various ways. In many, but not all cases, the fermentation that a crop undergoes can be explained by how microbes interact with factors such as moisture content, buffering capacity, and sugar content. However, management factors such as...

Functionally redundant but dissimilar microbial communities within biogas reactors treating maize silage in co-fermentation with sugar beet silage

Numerous observations indicate a high flexibility of microbial communities in different biogas reactors during anaerobic digestion. Here, we describe the functional redundancy and structural changes of involved microbial communities in four lab-scale continuously stirred tank reactors (CSTRs, 39°C, 12 L volume) supplied with different mixtures of maize silage (MS) and sugar beet silage (SBS) ov...

The dynamics of the bacterial communities developed in maize silage

Ensilage provides an effective means of conserving summer-grown green forage to supply as winter feed to ruminants. The fermentation process involved in the ensilage process relies on lactic acid bacteria (LAB). Here, 16S ribosomal DNA amplicon pyrosequencing was used to follow the dynamic behaviour of the LAB community during the ensilage of maize biomass, with a view to identify the key speci...
